Medication Support

Our Medication Support service ensures that clients take their prescribed medicines safely, correctly, and on time.
We follow strict CQC (Care Quality Commission) and local authority standards to ensure medication is handled with care, accuracy, and full accountability through our electronic EMAR system.

What’s Included:

1. Medication Reminders

  • Carers prompt or remind clients to take their prescribed medication at the correct time.
  • Ensure the right medication is taken on the correct day and in the correct dosage.
  • All reminders are tracked via our secure electronic EMAR system for full transparency.

2. Assistance with Taking Medication

  • Help opening packaging such as blister packs, bottles, or sachets.
  • Assistance with applying creams, eye drops, or inhalers.
  • Handing over the correct tablets or liquids to the client and observing safe administration.
  • Ensuring the medication has been taken properly and safely.

3. Administering Medication

  • Fully trained and authorised carers can directly administer medication where required.
  • Measure and give liquid doses, or apply prescribed patches and creams.
  • Record every administration on our EMAR system for complete accuracy.
  • All medication handling is carried out in line with CQC and local authority safety guidelines.

4. Monitoring and Reporting

  • Carers observe for any side effects or changes in health related to medication.
  • Concerns are promptly reported to family members, healthcare professionals, or care managers.
  • Support regular medication reviews by maintaining accurate EMAR records — reviewed every 3 months.

5. Liaising with Pharmacies and GPs

  • Collect prescriptions directly from the pharmacy where required.
  • Assist with reordering and renewing medication on schedule.
  • Communicate with GPs or pharmacists about discrepancies or concerns (with the Service User’s consent).
